A Few Random Thoughts

Here are a few random items and thoughts from the past few days.

Saturday was Grandma Floyd's memorial. Special Thanks to Marilee and Laura for coordinating such a warm and pleasant gathering. (Even if the day was frigidly cold.) I am sure Grandma would have loved the wonderful stories that were told and she would have especially loved to see so many family members gathered together.

I wasn't feeling especially well that day, which of course makes sense because I started my vacation on Friday. I figure I have some bad Karma stored up over something despite my best efforts to keep it clear.

Yesterday was our 15th wedding anniversary. 15 years married to the only person on the planet that makes sense. Kinda makes you jealous, doesn't it? Well, she is mine so BACK OFF! I could go off on a sappy pseudo-romantic rant of how wonderful Maxine is and what a wonderful life she has given me so far but anyone that knows us already hears the gory details on a daily basis so I will spare you here. Suffice it to say, she is perfect for me and everything I ever hoped for. 'Nuff said.

I felt so lousy yesterday that we didn't go out for our anniversary. Instead, the 5 of us went out to dinner together. We had some great laughs and told fun stories about the last (almost) 17 years we have been together. Our kids are so damn much fun it makes me question why parents go out without their kids.

We rescheduled our date for Saturday night. I have no idea what we are going to do yet but we hope to go somewhere "dress-upy" so Maxine can wear her new smokin' hot dress. Did I mention that it is amazingly hot on her? I don't know that I will be able to keep my grubby paws off her long enough to consume a meal.

Anywho, more to come soon.

Gee-tar, Drums, and a siren...

Yesterday I was grumpy. In fact, I think I have been grumpy for a couple of days.

Hard to believe, I know.

My wonderful Maxine, in her awesomeness, was sensitive to my grumpiness and was determined to find a cure.

As we were contemplating our dinner choices and just having a general chat, she suggested a rousing game of Rock Band.

Well, little camper, that worked wonders. Our little 5 man band is not very good, not by a longshot, but we laughed and sang and rocked for a couple of hours and all signs of mister grumpy gills were gone. We only have a PS2 so downloadable content is a no-go, but the stock songs are rock-a-rific by themselves.

Regin is quite the crooner, especially with Jeff shredding the guitar, Andrew thumping the bass, and Maxine defying logic on the drums. Me? I prefer to float around all 4.

My vacation starts tomorrow. I see a good amount of Rock Band in my future. If you haven't played it, I suggest you give it a shot.

Repetition

As I typed the word repetition, I had a thought. Let's dissect. If you break down the word, you have rep, for repeat. You have pet, which, well, means to pet. And then, you have tit. Um, jugs? boobies? fun bags? And ion. I have nothing witty, so forget that part.
So, the definition of repetition is to repeatedly rub boobies. Now you are informed.

That is a complete side tangent. My real reason for posting was the following video. The title, repetition, is because this is the same girl I posted the other day. Normally I would try not to repeat someone so soon but your mum told me to.
Enjoy.

Have you ever thought about making your own videos and posting them on YouTube? Me neither.

It's a four day week for me. Jealous much? I think it is going to be incredibly hard to focus. If I work with you, please forgive me. And what are you doing reading this during work hours? SHAME ON YOU!

Maxine and I celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary next week. I think that means she is officially stuck with me. Which is good because I don't relish the idea of sleeping in the bushes outside of her house and stalking her. Oh crap, did I just write that? Thank goodness for deletion.

I have a great big party planned for our anniversary. If you haven't already received your invite it is probably because we don't like you. Either that or it could be because I have the party planned in my head but not the thousands and thousands of dollars it would take to pull it off. That plus the fact that Maxine made me PROMISE not to spend any money. Since she reads this, I will have to say I didn't.

Have a great day and remember, a wise man once said, "Don't eat wooden nickels."

Yes, it was me.

Books to Movies

I love to read and I love movies. But I dont always love when they make books into movies. Some I do though. Twilight is a good example. I thought it was done well. It stuck closer to the book than most and definately kept the same feeling as the book.
Some examples of bad adaptations would be Eragon, other than the caracter names it was too different to be recognizable. Also the golden compass. Now I have not read it, but Jeff has and he was infuriated by the movie. I have never seen such a strong reaction. He still talks about how mad it made him.
Some movies based on books are actually better than the books. No slight on Nicolas Sparks, but the notebook and a walk to remember were both way better movies.
Then there are the enigmas. Stardust fits in this category for me. The book by Neil Gaiman was good. The movie was good. I liked the middle of the book better, and the beginning and end of the movie better. Weird.
These are my random thoughts of the day. Enjoy!

Gratuitous Humor Videos

Did you ever notice that the initials for Valentine's Day, the most oversexed holiday ever, is VD. Think about it.

These videos are funny.
Shut up, I don't care if you think so.

You have to hang in there with this one. The ending is fantabo.

A Thought on Bathrooms

I was thinking today while taking a pee.

Someday we will all have unisex bathrooms. Why don't we now?
I guess the old theory is that you don't want someone checking you out while you are doing what nature makes you do, and sometimes making such wonderful noises while doing it, but...
If your worry is that people might check out your can in the can, or try to peep your peepee, then you can never use a public restroom again.
If the guy standing next to you is inclined to check out "yer business" while standing at the urinal, is that more or less likely in a unisex bathroom? Less likely, DUH! There wouldn't be urinals in a public toilet. So that means that any guy that isn't in favor of unisex bathrooms must want to check out my junk. If a girl is opposed to unisex bathrooms, it is probably because you don't want a guy to hear the noises that girls don't make anyways.
Trust me, most men are thinly veiled adolescents. We would think it is riotously funny and not in the least bit embarrassing.
So, to sum it all up, males that are opposed to unisex bathrooms are interested in me. Females that are opposed to unisex bathrooms are delusional.
It is an inevitability so lets not fight it anymore. Equality of the sexes starts on the toilet!
Profound, isn't it?

A spicy little tidbit.

This is an excerpt from an email my dad forwarded to me.
It is quoted as a bit by Andy Rooney, who I normally think of as a complete douchebag but this was too funny not to quote.

"For all those men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?', here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!"

Oh man. That's funny.

Have you heard?

Lately I have been hooked on eMusic. There is a variety of free independent music that you can download. (Or not-so-free subscription based downloads.) They even have a toolbar for Internet Explorer that will let you download a free song everyday. Too bad it doesn't work on Chrome or Safari. I guess I don't get to use it.
I have found so many bands that I am now a fan of across many different genres.
I won't go in to them all because I have to pee so this needs to be brief.
But, the first "great discovery" I made was The Pillcrushers. Have you heard of them? I think I have all of their released music now. I recommend them if you need poppy refreshment.

Searching for religion...

In my quest for higher truth, I think I may have found the one true religion...

Or not.
But all jokes aside, this one nails it.

Funny. Evil. Good. Did I mention funny?

I don't have the SciFi channel. For many reasons I wish I did. Apparently there is a show call Scare Tactics.
We were watching a random show on VH1 tonight and they showed this.

I really think it may be the one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Oh man. Dan Bialek is funny.

This is about one of the funniest damn thing I have heard all morning.
Of course, I have been awake since 4, but I think this is funny anyways.

Lets start off with a little relaxing mood music.

I'm gonna keep on lovin' you....

Oh the wonderful world of music.
Maxine clued me in to the fact that REO Speedwagon and Styx were coming in concert.
For those of you that are too young to appreciate them, well, you should.
I had the awesome privilege to see Styx and Kansas on tour together way too many years ago and it was freakin'tastic.
I am thinking that me and the superhottie will have to go to this one. And with tickets starting at $13.50, how can you not?
Tickets don't go on sale for another week. If you want to buy me some, let me know.

Here is the link!
It is called the Can't Stop Rockin' tour for a reason. Freakin great bands in an open air stadium. Oh, I am giddy.

And you call ME a geek?

Ok, so I embrace the fact that I am pretty geeky in some respects. I love to read just about anything, I am in to bad movies, and I enjoy making obscure references that most people don't get about movies, books, or songs that many people have never heard of/seen/watched.

BUT!

I am not one of these people:

All that being said, I think I am pretty damn cool as far as geeks go.

Oh, and by the way, your mom called. She said you have to watch this video.

Exercise can be....fun?

Part of trying to get healthier is making exercise fun.
I don't know if this counts as exercise but it definitely counted as fun.
Especially the part where Cerra almost fell on her ass. (Oops, sorry, I meant butt.) Thanks to Mindy for recording it.

The Space Derby

A few weeks ago, we had the fine privilege of attending our scout pack's first Space Derby.spacederby
I can not express how much fun it was. Andrew worked hard on his rocket. (The Comet, in the picture) and we had a pretty successful run.
For some reason, I didn't take the camera to the Blue and Gold banquet, so you are missing out on seeing me and Andrew tearing it up in a three-legged race.
Close your eyes and you can probably imagine it. We aren't the sportiest chaps out there...
