Kickin it

Woot! Just got done watching the MLS All Star game. The All Stars lost but it was a ton of fun to watch. I am thinking I may have to check out a Real Salt Lake game sometime.

The whole world is a place and things.

So apparently I have been kind of a negative nellie lately.
That all ends today.

It just takes too much energy to walk around pissed off all the time. As some of you may know, I am fairly obsessed with Karma, the Dalai Lama, and trying to live a good, peaceful life.
Today in my readings I came across a site selling "Karma Checks." These checks come in two varieties. Good Karma and Bad Karma. The good are for handing out when someone does you a good turn. The bad, obviously, when you perceive you are wronged.
I found humor in these until I really started to think about it. The good checks are fine but individuals do not have the perspective to judge another persons bad behavior. That, and handing a bad check to someone is a good way to get punched in the head.

Remember to take a few minutes every day to reflect on yourself.
Remember the words of the Dalai Lama:
"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion."

That is what everything boils down to.

Ok, I don't normally do things like this but when I saw it on Rikki's blog I had to.
It is so much fun and a lot harder than I thought it would be. You really have to know a band to pull it off.

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat a song title.

Your Artist: KISS
Are you male or female: 2000 Man
Describe yourself: God of Thunder
How do you feel about yourself: I Love it Loud
Describe where you currently live: Rock Bottom
The first thing you think of when you wake up: Great Expectations
If you could go anywhere, where would you go: Detroit Rock City
Your favorite form of transportation: Strutter
Your best friend is: She
Your favorite color is: Black Diamond
What's the weather like: Hotter Than Hell
If your life were a TV show, what would it be called: Calling Dr. Love
What is life to you: All Hell's Breakin Loose
What is the best advice you have to give: Lick It Up
If you could change your name, what would it be: Love Gun
Your favorite food is: Cold Gin
How I would like to die: Sweet Pain
My soul's present condition: Psycho Circus
The faults I can bear: Spit
How would you describe your love life: I Just Wanna
What are you going to post this as: Sure Know Somethin

Clumsiness is hereditary

Poor Regin, she gets clumsiness from both sides. We all went to our neighbors pool party on sunday afternoon. It was a very good time other than the one time Regin tried to give me a heart attack by jumping into the deep end, and the last 10 minutes. Just before it was time to leave Regin was running by the side of the pool when she slipped and bounced her face off of the pavement. She chipped both of her front teeth (one pretty bad), and one of them became loose. It also bled quite a bit, made her face swollen, and she bit her lip. She kept ice on it for a few hours last night. This morning Mark took a few hours off work to get her to the dentist and the orthodontist. The dentist fixed the chips and the orthodontist Wired her teeth so that they dont fall out. They have to stay wired for a few months, hopefully everthing works out.
On a side note, she had a wonderful time at camp, and learned tons of usefull outdoorsy skills.
Here are some before and after pics from this morning of our beautiful, brave girl.

Steve McNair found dead. Gunsh...

Steve McNair found dead. Gunshot wound to the head. Tragic. Such talent lost forever. Personally, I think it was suicide based on last year.

This isn't funny.

This isn't funny.
At least not to some people.
Me? I laughed until I peed. Just a little.
Ok, so maybe a lot.
Don't judge me.

A few random thoughts

It is the 4th of July weekend. Good times! Today I have a (much needed) day off from work and it has me thinking.

Sometimes I have a tendency to get a little negative. I struggle with keeping a positive outlook on things and focus on the things that are not going exactly how I want them to. I like to think that I am generally a positive, easy going person but that may not be true.
I thought it was about damn time I made a post of things that I am grateful for right now so I can quit whining and get along with things.

In no particular order:
1) I have Maxine. I know, I know, you are probably sick of my sappy blathering about how wonderful she is but she is my everything.
2) The four most wonderful kids. Four? Yes, that is right. I count Michael. Although he isn't mine by birth and I only see him "part-time" he is very much a part of our family.
3) Maxine's family. All of them. Even the stinky ones. (You know who you are) They have always accepted me for who I am and filled the holes in my heart that needed filling. They are not "in-laws" they are family. They are my family.
4) I tend to keep the list of people I consider friends pretty short. (If you don't count family and co-workers) We have some pretty damn awesome friends right next door and have reconnected with a few others that we haven't talked to in years. It's pretty great.
5) Qqest. Try pronouncing it. I dare you. I have a great job. Sometimes it stresses me out. Sometimes I work ALOT of hours. Most days I have a blast. The work is challenging and consistent. I am fairly compensated. I love the people I work with and I have an awesome boss.
6) Stability. Bottom line...I have a safe, stable, and fun environment to live in with Maxine and the kids. We are all healthy, happy, and strong. (even if I am a little too "healthy")
I have absolutely nothing to complain about but minor annoyances especially when I look around and see what others are going through.

On a side note, my sister, Rebecca, and her family came through town on vacation this week. We got to spend a few hours hanging out and getting to know them. It was really nice to see them. I haven't spent time with her or her husband in about 20 years. I had never met their wonderful children and it was great to let my boys hang out with her kids at the park. (Poor Regin missed it while she was at camp.)

Have a great long weekend!
